Addressing climate change is a top issue for both leaders.
Over the weekend, House Speaker Nancy Pelosi traveled to the Vatican to meet with Pope Francis. The two leaders discussed “Laudato Si’” which is Pope Francis’ call for Catholics and the global community to address climate change and care for vulnerable communities. Pope Francis said that he believed everyone must play a part in addressing climate change, including government leaders.
Speaker Pelosi stated of the meeting, “It was a spiritual, personal and official honor to have an audience with His Holiness Pope Francis this morning. His Holiness’s leadership is a source of joy and hope for Catholics and for all people, challenging each of us to be good stewards of God’s creation, to act on climate, to embrace the refugee, the immigrant, and the poor, and to recognize the dignity and divinity in everyone.”
As the Lord Leads, Pray with Us…
- For Speaker Pelosi to seek the Lord’s guidance in her work.
- For members of Congress as climate and environmental matters are considered.
- For the president and his administration to be good stewards of God’s creation.
